Chemsex - if I’m struggling where do I go for help?

Chemsex is increasingly becoming a struggle for so many people today. It's been an issue in the gay world for some time and, more and more, it's entering into the heterosexual world too. Chemsex is typically summarised by a combining of sexual activity with specific chems such as crystal meths ( Tina) and both GHB and GBL - although there are others. If you're looking for more specific information about the particular drugs, how they effect you and how you can best protect yourself from their impact then a very good place to start is the website www.DavidStuart.org. Here you'll find detailed accounts of how each drug impacts your body, and what to do in an emergency.

Just a couple of years ago, an inspiring man, Ignacio Labayen de Inzaghi, set up the charity www.controllingchemsex.com aimed at offering hard practical support to people a) trying to manage their Chemsex behaviour and b) working towards rebuilding a meaningful connection with the world through free psychotherapeutical support. I've had the pleasure of being part of this team offering free support to those that need it. If you yourself are struggling, then this is another really strong place to start your journey to a safer and more fulfilling life. The pathway to better management of the issue is well trod, and works, so that avenue is very well worth considering.

And then, of course, there are many more individual therapists, like me, out there offering one to one support to help you on this journey. If, for whatever reason, you may think I'm not the right therapist for you, then do get in touch and I can point you in the direction of other therapist who specialise in supporting people within the Chemsex world. Be they queer, gay, straight, cos gendered male or female, gender fluid whatever - there is someone out there that can help so I'd be delighted to point you in their direction.
